A pharma lab’s fixtures, worth saving
Quantum Technology was brought in to purchase and remove the laboratory casework and walk-in coolers from the former Johnson & Johnson subsidiary, Centocor Ortho Biomed, in Radnor, Pennsylvania.
Beyond the casework, the job covered transformers, switchgear, 11 walk-in coolers and freezers, and the miscellaneous equipment and fixtures around them — right down to the ceiling tiles and doors.

Disconnect, remove, refurbish, resell
Quantum disconnected and removed all of the casework in the facility, including the countertops and overhead cabinets, then refurbished those fixtures and other lab accessories and resold them to other labs across the country. Where the seller of a lab can provide the labor to disconnect the electric and plumbing they will — and where that isn’t possible, Quantum provides those contractors. The 11 walk-in coolers were disassembled, removed and shipped to Quantum’s warehouse, then packaged and resold to other labs or to other sectors such as restaurants and cafeterias, with the compressors marketed and sold alongside the boxes.
All 11 walk-in coolers and freezers were disassembled, shipped and resold — part of Quantum’s near-zero landfill policy, where even doors and ceiling tiles find a buyer.
What came out of the lab
Fixtures, cold storage, power and the pieces most would scrap.
A lab emptied, its fixtures reborn
Almost everything found a second home — in other labs, and well beyond them.
Near-zero landfill
Casework, coolers, compressors — even doors and ceiling tiles — were removed and resold rather than dumped.
Refurbished for reuse
The casework and accessories were refurbished and resold to other labs across the country.
New homes beyond the lab
The walk-in coolers found buyers in other sectors too — including restaurants and cafeterias.
