A full data center to take out of service
Quantum Technology was hired to decommission GlaxoSmithKline’s 40,000 square foot data center in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania — a complete teardown taking in the HVAC, UPS, Halon, power panels and transfer switches.
The commercial structure made it an easy decision: Quantum was able to pay GlaxoSmithKline a substantial amount of money for the data center equipment while charging nothing for the demolition and removal.

Floor to ceiling, then recycled
The work ran the full scope: demolition of 40,000 square feet of floor tiles and understructure, plus the ceiling structure, pipes and cabling; disconnection and removal of the HVAC and UPS systems, Halon, power panels, transfer switches, distribution panels, wire and cable; dismantling the condensing units and chillers from the roof; and removing the power generation equipment.
Every waste stream was recycled — cable, wire, steel, electronics, Halon and lead-acid batteries — and the crew scraped and polished the cement floors and cut back the conduit and piping, working closely with GSK’s management for full communication through each phase. Equipment destined for resale, like the CRAC units, was cleaned, tested, custom-palletized and capped for safe transport.
A 40,000 square foot data center demolished floor to ceiling, every waste stream recycled — and GSK paid for the equipment rather than billed for the work.
The full teardown and restoration
Demolition, removal, recycling and finish — across the whole facility.
A clean finish, and money back to GSK
A full demolition handled responsibly — and a bill that ran the other way.
GSK was paid, not billed
Quantum paid GlaxoSmithKline a substantial sum for the equipment while charging nothing for the demolition and removal.
Every stream recycled
Cable, wire, steel, electronics, Halon and lead-acid batteries all went to environmental recycling.
Finished to a polished floor
The crew scraped and polished the cement floors and coordinated closely with GSK through every phase.
