Labs inside a hospital headed for demo
Bierlein Companies was hired to carry out a demolition project for Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Included in the demo were several floors of laboratories filled with laboratory casework and fume hoods — all of which had to be disassembled, disconnected and removed from the hospital area under demolition.
The lab equipment was in excellent condition, which opened up a better option than simply demolishing it in place.
Quantum bought it — and cleared it for free
Rather than charge for the removal, Quantum purchased the laboratory equipment from Bierlein and performed the decommission and clean-out at its own expense — supplying all the labor, materials, transportation, equipment, tools, supplies, temporary lighting and electrical disconnects at no cost to the seller.
Where equipment is in good shape, Quantum always makes its best attempt to pay the owner for it and include the demo at no charge. Even when a company does have to pay for removal, refurbishing and reselling the equipment to labs across the country beats sending it to landfill.
Close to 100 Fisher Hamilton fume hoods — plus several thousand feet of casework and cabinets — were dismantled, disconnected and removed.

A win for the demo and for the equipment
Bierlein’s demolition moved forward, the seller paid nothing for the removal, and the equipment lived on.
No cost to the seller
Quantum bought the equipment and covered the entire removal — labor, materials, transport and more — at no cost to Bierlein.

Close to 100 fume hoods and thousands of feet of casework were removed so the demo could proceed.
Resold, not landfilled
Because the equipment was in excellent condition, it was refurbished and resold to labs across the country.
