Clearing a site for a brand-new school
CBRE Group Inc brokered the sale of a former 55,000 SF data center in Teaneck, New Jersey to a local private school — a deal that took some time to close because of complicated zoning issues. To clear the building and the outside grounds for the new school, CBRE hired Quantum Technology to dismantle and remove the equipment.
Quantum was actually able to pay for the equipment and do the work for free — and the money went toward the construction costs of the new school.

High-voltage work, carefully coordinated
The outdoor metal-clad utility switchgear block house had two incoming primaries at 26.4 KV and needed extensive coordination with the electric company before it could be touched. Quantum disassembled the enclosure and resold it, tested the transformer’s oil to confirm it contained no PCBs before reselling the transformer, and removed the electrical equipment inside the building — clearing the way for the school build-out.
A metal-clad switchgear block house fed by two 26.4 KV primaries — dismantled, packed and removed in close coordination with the utility.
What the clearance covered
An outdoor substation structure, a transformer, and the equipment inside.
A cleared site — and a contribution to the school
The grounds were ready for construction, the equipment found new homes, and the deal gave back.
Free work that funded a school
Quantum paid for the equipment and did the work at no charge — with the payment going toward the new school’s construction.
High-voltage, handled safely
The 26.4 KV switchgear was removed in close coordination with the electric company, with the transformer oil PCB-tested.
Grounds cleared for the build
With the block house, transformer and interior equipment gone, the site was ready for the school’s construction.
