Quantum Technology Case Studies
KEY FACTS
Location: Wayne, PA
Type: Data Center Decommissioning
Scope: Clean out the data center, purchase all equipment
Duration: 1 week
Client: AES – Blue Cross
AES, a local environmental company, hired Quantum Technology to decommission the data center in the Blue Cross building in Wayne PA. Quantum bought the generators, switchgear, UPS systems, AC systems and all of the data center assets. We used the revenue from the equipment to offset the cost of decommission.
Project Details:
The generator enclosure was oversized which is frequent. Quantum supplied crane, riggers and trucking. Quantum drained the diesel fuel and recycled it. The FM-200 tanks have small explosive devices on them called actuators. Quantum crew is trained to de-activate these before the tanks are disconnected. Liebert AC’s and UPS’s that are later model and well maintained can be easier resold through Quantum’s nationwide network of buyers. Old units might be broken down for parts. The UPS batteries were recycled. The Switchgear at Blue Cross was custom built, and could not be sold as one unit, so the breakers were sold separately, and the rest was recycled.
