Centocor (Johnson & Johnson)
Laboratory demolition Project at Centocor - Johnson & Johnson

KEY FACTS

Location: Radnor PA

Type: Laboratory demolition

Scope: Disconnect and remove all laboratory equipment and fixtures, transformers, switchgear, (11) walk-in coolers and freezers, and miscellaneous equipment and fixtures including ceiling tiles and doors

Duration: 2 weeks

Client: AES for Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Centocor

Quantum Technology was brought in to purchase and remove the Laboratory Case work and walk in coolers from the former Johnson & Johnson subsidiary, Centocor Ortho Biomed, in Radnor PA.

Project Details:
Quantum disconnected and removed all casework in the facility, including the counter tops and overhead cabinets. These fixtures along with other laboratory accessories were refurbished and resold to other labs in the country.  Often the seller of the lab will provide the labor to disconnect the electric and plumbing, but when this is not possible, Quantum will provide these contractors. The walk in coolers were disassembled, removed, and shipped to Quantum’s warehouse. From there they are packaged and resold either to other labs or other industry sectors including restaurants and cafeterias. The compressors were marketed and sold with the walk in boxes, but they could easily be sold as replacement units as well for existing installations. Sometimes equipment that is warehoused can take several years to move from inventory. Quantum has a near zero landfill policy. Even doors and ceiling tiles are removed and resold.
