Cushman & Wakefield’s client hired Quantum Technology to disconnect, remove, palletize and transport to a certified recycling facility (240) wet lead acid batteries no longer being used for the building UPS system.

The batteries were located 2 stories underground and needed to be lifted one by one with a jib crane. In all, there were 240 picks. Some of the batteries had cracks due to heat and age, and were leaking sulphuric acid. The crew utilized spill kits to clean up spillage. In one room there was an 8” curb. Batteries had to be lifted over the curbs. Rooms were left in broom swept condition.

Quantum Technology has an ongoing commitment to resell or recycle all equipment and material removed from data center sites. Quantum presented the client with a receipt of weight and an ESG Metrics Report.
