KEY FACTS
KEY FACTS
Location: Kalamazoo, MI
Type: Laboratory Decommissioning
Scope: Disassemble, disconnect and remove lab furniture and fume hoods from the entire hospital area under demo.
Duration: 4 weeks
Client: Bierlein Companies for Bronson Hospital
Bierlein Companies was hired to do a demolition project for Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo Michigan. Included in the demo were several floors of laboratories filled with laboratory casework and fume hoods. Quantum purchased the laboratory equipment from Bierlein and did the decommission and clean out at Quantum’s expense. It is significant to note, that the laboratory equipment was in excellent condition. Quantum always makes its best attempt pay the owner for the equipment and include the demo at no charge, or at least vastly reduce the cost of the interior demo and equipment removal. However, in some cases this is not practical because of the age of the equipment and the amount of refurbishing it will take to get it in shape for resale. Nevertheless, even if a company has to pay Quantum to do the removal, it is almost always better to have the equipment refurbished and resold to labs across the country, rather than throw it in landfill.
