Location: NJ

Type: Data Center Decommissioning

Scope: Electrical installation

Duration: 3 weeks

Client: Bromag

Quantum recently signed a contract with Bromag, a NJ based demolition company, to purchase and remove the complete electrical infrastructure from the previous BASF facility located in Mt Olive NJ.

In its heyday, the facility boasted 3,000 employees, but when BASF moved their headquarters to East Hanover NJ, the 5 building campus sat vacant for almost 30 years.  It is now being demolished to make way for a 600,000 SF distribution center.

Scope for Quantum was 4 buildings to disconnect, rig, remove, and transport the bulk of the equipment back to out 200,000 SF warehouse.  Amongst other challenges, the Quantum crew removed an 11,000 lbs. substation through the roof of the Penthouse.

Although Quantum Technology has its own demolition projects and full scale data center decommissions capabilities, the company also works with other demo companies and owners to monetize the electrical and mechanical assets.  Quantum does this, by purchasing them, doing the disconnect and removal, then shipping them back to our Shippensburg and Philadelphia warehouses where they are refurbished and resold on the used market. Quantum currently stocks over 80,000 pieces of equipment, and has completed well over 4,000 unique projects.
